Area around Jabuti

Jabuti is located in Murtais, between the villages of Fuseta and Moncarapacho. The holiday homes are located on a small hilltop of 50 meters high with a beautiful view of the sea, the hills and the hinterland. Jabuti is a 5 minute drive from the beach, fishing village of Fuseta and the nature reserve of the Ria Formosa (also called the pearl of the Algarve). Faro Airport is a 20-minute drive away.

The Eastern Algarve is known for its hills, small villages, long golden beaches, dotted with lagoons and sandbanks. The sea temperature here is often higher than in the rest of the Algarve. The coastal towns of the eastern Algarve are more authentic than those in the central Algarve, which also means less mass tourism. This way you really imagine yourself in the quiet and relaxed Portuguese life.

There are plenty of activities to do in our area such as; walking, cycling, mountain biking, surfing, windsurfing, kiting, fishing, dolphin and whale watching and jeep safaris. There are also very nice villages and towns to visit.

For bird watchers, the Algarve is one of the best European bird watching destinations!

Fuseta 3 km

Fuseta is a small, cosy, fishing village. It has narrow streets, cozy village squares and there is a nice mix of locals, fishermen and a (modest) number of tourists. Fuseta  is located right on the Ria Formosa and you have a beautiful view over the fisher boats, lagoons and the sea.

There are 2 beaches; the inner beach Fuseta and Ilha da Fuseta. The inner beach is a 5 minute drive from our quinta. There is a nice bar on this beach. It is also a nice beach for parents with small children, because there are no waves.

With a ferry or taxi boat you can sail for a few euros to Ilha de Fuseta, with its kilometers of sandy beaches.

Moncarapacho 3 km

Moncarapacho is a small, authentic Portuguese village. Here are several restaurants, shops and terraces. There are banks and there is a large supermarket where you can do your shopping.

Ria Formosa 3 km

The Ria Formosa is one of the seven natural wonders of Portugal. The coastal area can be compared with the Dutch Wadden. It is a tidal area with many islets, white sand beaches and blue lagoons. The lagoon is connected to the sea. In this area you can encounter interesting bird species such as spoonbills, purple coots and flamingos. In addition, there are about a hundred other bird species. You can also find special nature on land and in the water. This area is home to aquatic turtles and a large population of seahorses.

Olhão 7 km

Is an old and typical fishing village with a long boulevard, coffee shops, good restaurants and street art. In the middle of the boulevard you will find a fish market that has been there since the Middle Ages. On Saturdays, try to visit Olhão's fresh produce market as early as possible. This is until 13:00. In addition to vegetables, fruit and meat, there is also farm-fresh fish such as tuna and sea bass. In addition, there are rays, swordfish, eels and other species that you may not have heard of. Everything is cleaned and filleted as you wish.

The non-fish stalls are located in a separate hall, where tons of fresh fruit and vegetables and artisanal treats such as local pies and honey await you.

Ferries run from Olhao to the beautiful beaches of Ilha do Farol and Ilha de Armona. Ferries from Olhão run regularly, every hour in the spring and summer months. The ferries are affordable. You pay a few euros for a return ticket. A trip by ferry can be easily combined with a walk on the beach and a lunch on one of the islands.

Tavira 14 km

Tavira is a town to fall in love with. It is located on the Gilão River.

It is charming, lively and has very nice restaurants and shops.

The current bridge, which is said to be of Roman origin, dates back to the 17th century.

From the stone railing you have a beautiful view over the city. However, the view is even more beautiful from the castle's tower, arguably the best vantage point over the city. Here you can see the roofs, the domes of the churches, the river and the salt pans, with the blue line of the sea on the horizon. Tavira, definitely visit!
