Sustainability at Jabuti
Quinta Jabuti is more than a holiday accommodation. It is a place where you can relax, knowing that behind the scenes, the world around us is being treated with care. So that your holiday accommodation not only feels good, but also does good.

Sustainable & comfortable
For us, sustainability does not mean compromising on comfort; on the contrary.
All accommodations are well insulated and fitted with double glazing, ensuring heat is retained in the winter and heat stays out in the summer.
The underfloor heating is powered by a combination of hot water panels and a heat pump. This ensures a pleasant temperature with significantly lower energy consumption than traditional systems.

Water
For us, water is not a given, but a valuable resource that we handle with care.
- We supply our accommodations entirely with our own water. This is pumped from the ground, filtered, and decalcified so that it can be used safely and comfortably.
- After use, the water does not simply disappear. Through a system involving pre-digestion and a septic tank, it is naturally returned to the soil. In this way, the water remains part of a circular system, exactly as nature intended.

Energy
Our energy supply is set up with the goal of generating as much as possible ourselves, wasting as little as possible, and being independent.
- With 27 solar panels, we generate a large portion of our own electricity. By using our energy primarily during the day, we utilize this yield optimally.
- Recently, we started storing excess energy in a 14.3 kWh home battery. This allows us to use our own power even when there is no sun.
- Currently, on average over a year, we are 50% self-sufficient in our electricity consumption—and that share is growing. During the non-winter months, our independence percentage increases to 80-90%.
- Additionally, the system enables us to keep operating during power outages without you noticing anything.
Even our transport aligns with this: our electric car runs entirely on solar energy.

Our garden
Outdoors, too, we consciously consider water usage and biodiversity. Our garden is irrigated using drip irrigation, ensuring water reaches the plants in a targeted and efficient manner, with minimal waste.
In the initial phase, we chose to give the garden extra water. That was an investment. Since then, the garden has fully come to life. And the bare ground has been transformed.
Due to the growth of plants and vegetation, there is more shade for the ground, allowing water to be retained better in the soil. This creates a healthier ecosystem in which not only plants but also insects, birds, and animals find their place. What started with giving is now transforming into retaining and strengthening.
For us, sustainability is not an endpoint, but a continuous process. We are actively seeking ways to reduce our impact on the environment. Every step, no matter how small, contributes to a place where nature and leisure are in balance.
